Last time we talked, I had just been diagnosed with anemia, and the iron pills were working pretty well for me. After that, though…
I was diagnosed with mold biotoxin illness.
That means I have allergies to molds, and I have mold toxins running around my body wreaking havoc on my hormones and brain chemistry. I’m currently taking medication to get rid of it, and hopefully this will be the last step in getting my brain and body working properly.
Because of all of the medical issues I’ve been having recently, I will admit that the past 6 months have been the most stressful and depressing time of my entire life.
However, it dawned on me recently that throughout this entire time…
Despite how stressed I’ve been, I haven’t binged or stress-eaten once.
This is monumental.
I used to be a big stress eater.
For most of my life, if I was frustrated or sad or lonely, I’d turn to cookies or brownies to make the pain go away temporarily. I’d eat without thinking, and surprise myself when whole boxes of cookies were gone.
I’d overeat at every meal in order to fill some emotional void inside of me.
But I always ended up feeling worse than I had before, with:
- Stomach aches
- Bloated belly
- Itchy skin
- Blood sugar swings
- Weight Gain
I couldn’t stop the cycle of bingeing and cheating, then feeling guilty and depriving myself for a while, then breaking down and cheating and bingeing again.
I finally stopped bingeing and stress eating.
I got sick of not reaching my weight and health goals, and I starting changing my behaviors and thought processes around food systematically, until I no longer thought of food as a guilty pleasure or a void filler.
Gradually, I regained the power in my relationship with food, and now…
I eat whatever I want, whenever I want
I don’t have cravings very often
I don’t binge
I don’t feel tempted by food
I don’t feel sick from food anymore
Plus, I got down to the weight I’ve always wanted to be at, and I haven’t gained it back in over 5 years.
