Is this for you?

Let's make sure this is right for you

This is a good fit if…

  • You want to change your part of the pattern
  • Your partner isn't ready to come, or you want to start on your own
  • You want practical tools, not just a place to vent
  • You're open to trying new things between sessions

This probably isn't a fit if…

  • You're not in Texas. I can only see clients who live in Texas
  • There's abuse or a safety concern in the relationship. Please reach out to the National Domestic Violence Hotline (1-800-799-7233)

You can't change your partner. You can change your side of the pattern.

Money, too

Want to focus on money?

Money is often where everything else shows up. Some or all of our sessions can focus on money and how you handle it with your partner.

  • A shared plan for your money. Figure out what you want, and how to bring it to your partner so no one is carrying it alone, left in the dark, or asking the other to spend money that isn't there.
  • Splitting costs fairly. If you earn different amounts, we'll work out what a fair split looks like and how to propose it.
  • Combining finances (or not). Joint, separate, or a mix: we'll figure out what fits your relationship.

About me

I've always been the person friends call when something's hard.

I've known I wanted to be a counselor since I was 16.

My approach is warm, direct, and practical. I draw on existential therapy, which looks at what you want and what's getting in the way, plus CBT and DBT skills like DEARMAN, so you leave sessions with something concrete to try.

My husband and I have been together for 21 years, and we've had plenty of difficult arguments. A lot of what changed for us started with each of us working on our own side.

Working with me

What it's like to work with me

I'm warm, but I'm not going to just nod along if something isn't working. If I notice a pattern, I'll name it, kindly, and I'm honest in a direct but compassionate way.

Sessions are practical. We'll talk about what's going on, and you'll leave with something to try: a script for a hard conversation, a skill like DEARMAN, or a small experiment for the week.

We'll also go deeper when it helps. A lot of arguments trace back to what we learned about communication and conflict growing up, or to old hurts about fairness. Understanding that usually makes the practical stuff easier.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Are you a licensed therapist?

Not yet. I'm a mental health counseling intern in my final year of graduate school. I see clients through Vibrant Journey Counseling, supervised by Mehik Malik, MA, LPC-S, and Dr. Kayla Bryant, PhD, LPC-S, at Midwestern State University. Being an intern is what makes the $30 rate possible.

What does it mean to be a supervised intern?

Our sessions work just like normal therapy. I see you on my own, and it's only us in our sessions. Behind the scenes, I meet regularly with my supervisor and share information about our work confidentially, so she can guide me in helping you as effectively as possible.

How much does it cost?

$30 per session, for individuals and for couples. You can pay by credit card, debit card, or HSA.

Do you take insurance?

No. Because I'm an intern, I can't bill insurance. But my rate is much lower than typical therapy, which usually runs $100 to $250 an hour cash pay.

How long are sessions, and how many will I need?

Sessions are 60 minutes. How many you need depends on your goals, and we'll talk about that together.

Do I have to live in Texas?

Yes. All sessions are online, and you need to live in Texas because my supervisors are licensed in Texas.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

No. All sessions are online by video, so there's no office to drive to. You can join from home or anywhere private in Texas.

Can this help if my partner never comes?

Yes. You can only change your side of the pattern, and that often changes more than you'd expect. We'll work on how you communicate, what you ask for, and how you respond when things get tense.

Can my partner join later?

Only for a one-time session. If you start as an individual client, I can't ethically see the two of you as a couple on an ongoing basis later. If you think you'll want couples therapy, it's worth starting there.

Do I have to be in a relationship?

No. Many people work on stress, life transitions, family patterns, or how they show up in relationships in general.
